Position Summary:
The Finance Manager will work under the direction of the Executive Director and is part of the Administration Team at Wiigwas Elder and Senior Care.
Overview of Responsibilities
- Collaborate with departments and programs to develop and implement financial strategies that supports the Home’s mission
- Prepare annual budget and monitor monthly financial reports for variances
- Ensure compliance with Ministry of Long-Term Care reporting requirements
- Perform monthly adjustments and bank reconciliations in a timely manner
- Prepare financial reports for funders, Program Managers and Board of Directors
- Ensure proper audit documentation
- Preparation of various spreadsheets for reporting and analysis
- Full function of the payroll cycle
- Maintain resident trust accounts, including receipts and disbursements
- Maintain books and records for fundraising events and charitable activities
- Review disbursements, ensuring they are in accordance with approved budgets
- Maintain strict confidentiality
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Degree in business administration
- CPA designation an asset
- Knowledge of financial management and general accounting principles, payroll management and budgetary planning, development and monitoring
- Proficiency in Adagio accounting software, PayDirt payroll, and Microsoft 360 programs
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of governmental regulations and reporting requirements
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Thorough knowledge of not-for-profit accounting practices and procedures
- Understanding of Ojibway culture is a definite asset .
Conditions of Employment
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) prior to commencing employment
- Provide satisfactory 2-step Tuberculosis (TB) screening/testing in accordance with the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021 and organizational policy
- Successfully complete all mandatory orientation and SurgeLearning requirements within the timelines established by Wiigwas Elder and Senior Care
- Possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle
- Must be willing to travel when required
- Meet all other pre-employment and ongoing employment requirements as determined by Wiigwas Elder and Senior Care
